There’s something funny about celebrity drama in Nollywood. One minute, two stars are throwing shade online. The next minute, someone is standing up like a proud campaign manager at an award show. That’s exactly what happened when Sarah Martins decided to speak up for Yul Edochie after the 2026 AMVCA buzz settled down.
The actress took to social media with a message that caught many fans off guard. Even though she and Yul have had their public disagreements, Sarah made it clear that talent is talent. According to her, Yul deserves more respect for his acting skills and should have walked away with an award.
And honestly? The internet didn’t know whether to clap, laugh, or start another debate.
Hate aside, Yul Edochie is a fantastic actor, and he deserves a win.
she wrote. “AMVCA, you people can do better.” She still made room to congratulate the winners, adding that her message came from a “No hate zone.”
That one line alone felt very Nollywood. A little spicy. A little supportive. A little “let me say my mind before I sleep.”
To be fair, Yul has never exactly been shy when it comes to praising himself. The actor has spent the last few years confidently crowning himself the king of acting in both Nigeria and Africa. According to him, nobody brings the same level of intensity to movie roles.

And if you’ve watched Yul in classic Nollywood films, you probably understand why he speaks with that much confidence. The man knows how to own a scene. Whether he’s playing a village prince, a stubborn billionaire, or the loud man in a family feud, he commits fully. The voice. The expressions. The dramatic pauses. Yul acts like he knows the camera loves him.
Back in 2024, he boldly declared himself the best actor in Africa. He even claimed many people already agreed with him. In true Yul fashion, he didn’t exactly whisper the statement either.
His wife, Judy Austin, has also publicly hyped him many times. She once praised both his acting and directing skills, saying nobody comes close to him in Nollywood. According to Judy, the world doesn’t fully understand how special Yul is.
Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo also gave Yul his flowers recently. While sharing a clip from a movie set, Kanayo admitted that people may have different opinions about Yul personally, but his performance skills are hard to deny. He praised the actor’s ability to use his voice, body language, and presence to command attention onscreen.
And maybe that’s the real conversation here.
You don’t have to agree with every celebrity decision to admit when someone is talented. Nollywood fans may argue all day online, but when the cameras start rolling, good acting still speaks for itself.
So now the big question floating around social media is simple: should Yul Edochie finally get that major award recognition everyone keeps talking about?
