New and troubling details are coming out in the case involving D4vd.
The 21-year-old singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. This comes seven months after missing teen Celeste Rivas was found dead inside his Tesla. Now, prosecutors say he could be facing even more serious charges.
During a court hearing on Thursday, prosecutors revealed they found what they called a “significant amount” of child sexual abuse images on his iPhone. The claim adds another disturbing layer to an already shocking case.
Along with the murder charge and a charge for mutilating a body, D4vd is also accused of lewd acts involving a child under 14. Earlier this week, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman said there is evidence suggesting D4vd had a sexual relationship with Celeste starting when she was just 13 years old. It’s still unclear if the images found on his phone are connected to her.
In court, D4vd didn’t say much. He appeared quiet and showed little reaction as Judge Charlaine Olmedo explained the next steps in the case. He only responded with a brief “Yes, ma’am.” His preliminary hearing is set for May 1, but he will be back in court on April 29 to address the latest developments.
According to journalist Meghann Cuniff, prosecutors also said the LAPD used a court-approved wiretap during the investigation. Prosecutor Beth Silverman explained that they are still waiting for results from that wiretap, noting it may take time to process.
D4vd’s legal team says they are still waiting to review key physical evidence. Meanwhile, the district attorney’s office says they already have more than 40 terabytes of evidence, including digital, forensic, and physical materials. They plan to move forward quickly and are aiming to start a trial within 60 days.
If convicted, D4vd could face the death penalty. For now, he has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
This case continues to unfold, with more evidence still being reviewed and new details emerging—so what else might come to light as the investigation moves forward?
