Olivia Rodrigo Lands UK Number 1 as Justin Bieber Makes a Surprise Comeback

The UK Official Singles Chart has a new leader this week, and it’s Olivia Rodrigo. Her comeback single “drop dead” has gone straight to Number 1. It’s the first release from her upcoming third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, and it gives her a fourth chart-topper. She’s already had huge hits like “drivers license,” “good 4 u,” and “vampire.”

With this win, Rodrigo pushes last week’s chart leader off the top spot. Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s song “Rein Me In” had a strong run, holding Number 1 for five straight weeks and eight weeks in total. This week, it dropped to Number 2.

Justin Bieber is also back in a big way. Thanks to a post-Coachella boost, his 2012 hit “Beauty and a Beat” with Nicki Minaj climbs to a new peak at Number 3. It jumps eight places in just one week. Even more of his older songs are making a return. His breakout hit “Baby” is back at Number 17 for the first time in 16 years, and “Eenie Meenie” with Sean Kingston re-enters at Number 32.

Physical releases also shook up the chart. Taylor Swift had the biggest jump of the week with “Elizabeth Taylor,” which shoots up 59 places to Number 14. The boost comes from a limited violet glitter vinyl dropped for Record Store Day, showing how physical sales still matter.

New artists are climbing too. California singer Malcolm Todd moves up with his debut track “Earrings,” now at Number 29. Dance duo Prospa and Cloonee also rise with their club track “Free Your Mind,” landing at Number 30.

There are fresh faces in the Top 40 as well. sombr earns a sixth Top 40 entry with “Potential” at Number 31. Meanwhile, Tyla and Zara Larsson debut at Number 40 with their collaboration “SHE DID IT AGAIN.”

All in all, it’s a week packed with big debuts, surprise returns, and shifting trends across the UK chart—but with so many changes happening at once, who will hold the top spot next week?
